Bobby Singleton elected as Alabama Democratic Party chairman

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – State Sen. Bobby Singleton (D-Greensboro) has been elected as the new chairman of the Alabama Democratic Party.
The State Democratic Executive Committee chose him at a meeting in Montgomery over the weekend. He will replace Randy Kelley, who he defeated.
Kelley, a Huntsville pastor, had been elected in 2022 with the backing of longtime political powerbroker Joe Reed, the father of Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed.
Singleton is well known as the Senate Minority Leader in the Legislature. He was elected to the Senate in 2005 after serving in the Alabama House.
Caroline Self was elected vice chair.
