Sons Kia presents scholarship money as it celebrates opening of new dealership facility

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – When a car dealership builds a new facility, you can usually expect banners, balloons and bargain deals. A Montgomery car dealership is celebrating its new building, with a twist.

Sons Kia of Montgomery recently opened its new facility in its familiar location on Eastern Boulevard. The dealership operated out of trailers for 13 months while construction was underway.

Sons held a three-day celebration this past weekend, which included giving away college scholarships.

It gave out six scholarships worth $10,000 in total to ASU, AUM, and Faulkner University as a way of reaching people beyond the dealership.

“If it wasn’t for the community we wouldn’t be here,” Sons Kia General Manager Josh Bottoms told Action 8 News. “It’s going to be a relationship with the colleges and with the community that’s going to be ongoing for years to come.”

Sons Kia also celebrated its grand opening with a Family Fun Day and a concert by Lady K. The family-owned company entered Montgomery in 2023 when it purchased the longtime Brewbaker Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and Kia dealerships and has about a dozen dealerships in Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee.
