Man arrested on sex, burglary charges in Opelika

OPELIKA, Ala. (WAKA) – Opelika police have arrested a man following a report of a sexual assault.

Police say on Thursday, August 20, they got a report of the assault at a home that had happened four days earlier. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Jonty Leroy Floyd.

Opelika Police Detectives collected evidence they say corroborated the victim’s account, and Floyd was arrested on August 20 on charges of first-degree sodomy and first-degree burglary.

He is currently being held at the Lee County Jail.
