Teens help provide water, necessities to first responders through hydration drive

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (WAKA) – A group of teenagers are coming together to make sure first responders stay hydrated during the hot, summer months.

Their efforts are part of a hydration tour through six cities in Alabama. Hydration items, including water, Gatorade, electrolyte packs, and cooling towels, are being delivered to firefighters. In total, more than 10,000 hydration items will be delivered during the tour.

Prattville was among the stops on the tour, where Mayor Bill Gillespie also stopped by.

The students are members of the non-profits All the Same and Project Pulmonary.

All the Same collects educational and health resources to donate to communities, while Project Pulmonary is an international, youth-led dedicated to raising awareness of the carcinogenic environments firefighters face every day while serving their communities.

Participants in the Hydration Drive include Zoey Friddle, a senior at Enterprise High School and Vice President of All the Same Alabama; Jaden Whiting, a senior at Enterprise High School; Iris Mondonedo, also a senior at Enterprise High School; and Bruce Taylor, a junior at Prattville High School.
