Red Lobster closing Montgomery restaurant location
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Action 8 News has confirmed that Red Lobster will be closing its longtime Montgomery location early next month.
A company spokesperson said the location on Atlanta Highway near Eastdale Mall will close on Sunday, September 6. It has been a fixture in that spot for decades.
The spokesperson said that the company continuously evaluates individual restaurant performance and lease terms and may, from time to time, choose to close select restaurants, saying “This closure reflected specific decisions tied to the unique operating conditions at this restaurant.”
“We remain committed to making thoughtful decisions that position Red Lobster for long-term success, stability and growth.”
This is not the first Red Lobster to close in Alabama recently. The chain’s oldest location, which was in Vestavia Hills near Birmingham, closed in May after more than 50 years in business. Its location in Auburn closed in 2024.
With the closing of the Montgomery restaurant, the nearest Red Lobster restaurants to our area are in Dothan and Trussville.
