19 new firefighters graduate from Montgomery Fire/Rescue Training Program
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Nineteen new firefighters have graduated from the 20-week Montgomery Fire/Rescue Training Program.
A ceremony was held this week for the new graduates at Vaughn Forest Church.
The training started in March with a 12-week Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Basic National Registry course. After that came eight weeks focused on fire suppression, covering fire behavior, tactical operations, equipment handling and live burn exercises.
Fire department officials say this course prepared recruits for the physical and technical demands of real-world firefighting scenarios.
The new firefighters will now be assigned to various stations across Montgomery, where they will apply their training and contribute to the department’s mission of protecting lives and property.
