18-year-old charged with making terroristic threat against Opelika High School

OPELIKA, Ala. (WAKA) – An 18-year-old has been arrested and charged with planning an attack on Opelika High School.

Opelika police say 18-year-old Jacob Scott Howell has been charged with making a terrorist threat in the first degree.

Police say they got a report on Friday, August 28, after school had been released that said Howell had developed a plan to attack the school. Police say school resource officers immediately notified school system leaders.

Police say Howell was not at school today. He has now been banned from all Opelika school properties.
