City tackles continuing garbage issues in Uniontown

The city of Uniontown gets some much needed help to deal with on-going garbage issues in the city.
The city has a new $100,000 dollar garbage truck. And it didn’t cost tax payers one red cent.
“It’s a garbage truck that we are badly in need of,” said Mayor Ronald Miller.
“We have one already, but we’re constantly having to do repairs.”
Arrowhead Landfill of Waste Connections donated the truck.
“We were able to find in our fleet a good truck to give the city of Uniontown,” said District Manager Joel Falbo.
“Waste Connections works very diligently with all the communities that we operate in to be a good community partner and be a good neighbor.”
The new truck is equipped to handle dumpsters, like the ones overflowing with trash at Uniontown Apartments.
“If I’m not mistaken, it’s been like this two months, going on three months,” said Tracy Thomas.
“This is a private complex. They got a private company that’s picking it up,” said Miller.
“I don’t know all the details of why it’s not being picked up. But as you can see, it’s not being picked up.”
Miller says the situation at the complex is an obvious health hazard and the city has begun taking steps to legally resolve the apartment’s garbage pick up issues.
