ACTION 8 UPDATE: Howell faces new charges in addition to charge of threatening Opelika High School
OPELIKA, Ala. (WAKA) – 18-year-old Jacob Scott Howell faces more charges in addition to the charge of making a terrorist threat against Opelika High School.
Police say on Monday, August 31, Howell was arrested for making a terrorist threat in the first degree following an investigation into a planned violent attack against the school. Howell posted bond and was released from the Lee County Jail that afternoon.
Police say during the investigation, detectives discovered child pornography on Howell’s electronic devices.
Today, Howell was arrested on 15 counts of possession of child pornography. A bond hearing is scheduled for tomorrow.
Howell is now banned from all school campuses in the state of Alabama, police say.
