Auburn man arrested on child sexual abuse charges

LEE COUNTY, Ala. (WAKA) – Lee County investigators have arrested a man on multiple charges, including incest and sodomy.
Lee County Sheriff Jay Jones says on August 31, an employee with the Lee County Department of Human Resources filed a report with his office regarding sexual abuse of a juvenile.
During the investigation, evidence obtained supported the allegations.
Investigators arrested and charged 42-year-old Walter Sarkneko Barnett, of Auburn, with one count of incest, two counts of 2nd degree sodomy, one count of 2nd degree rape and one count of 2nd degree sexual abuse.
Barnett is currently in the Lee County Detention Facility on a $146,000 bond. Additional charges are expected.
