Heat advisory through 8PM Sunday, rain chances rise this weekend
Friday was *another* very hot early September day in central and south Alabama. Temperatures soared into the upper 90s in some locations, including Montgomery with a high of 97°. Fortunately, that was shy of the September 4th record of 103° from 1925. Rain coverage was higher Friday than Thursday, though storms mainly favored locations on either side of highway 84. Our area was mainly rain free by 8PM Friday.
The rest of Friday night looks partly cloudy with lows in the mid 70s. Intense summer heat continues Labor Day weekend. A heat advisory now continues through 8PM Sunday for central Alabama. That means heat index values peak at or above 105° Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, high temperatures range from the mid to upper 90s. However, rain chances rise through Monday. Shower/storm coverage becomes widely scattered each afternoon.
