MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Two men have been shot in Montgomery in what police believe was an exchange of gunfire between them.

Montgomery police Lt. J. Scott Dunn told Action 8 News that officers were called to the 4300 block of White Acres Road just after midnight this morning. That location is just off Vaughn Road between the Perry Hill Road and Eastern Boulevard intersections.

Dunn says when officers arrived, they found a man with a life-threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a hospital for emergency treatment.

A short time later, Dunn says officers were notified by medical staff that another man arrived at a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Dunn says that while detectives are in the early stages of determining the circumstances, preliminary evidence has led investigators to believe both men were engaged in an illicit transaction that escalated and resulted in them exchanging gunfire.
