Millbrook names new fire chief
MILLBROOK, Ala. (WAKA) – For the first time in more than three decades, the city of Millbrook has a new fire chief.
At last night’s city council meeting, council members appointed Capt. Doyle Campbell to the position. He will replace Chief Larry Brown, who is retiring after 32 years leading the department.
Campbell says he’s honored to walk in Brown’s footsteps and he says he already has plans for the department.
“I would like to grow the department because of the growth that the city is experiencing,” Campbell told Action 8 News. “With construction of 17 Springs, the sports complex, and other commercial properties that are in the works, and very large residential subdivisions that are about to be constructed as well. All that kind of stuff taxes us as well as the rest of your city services, like fire and police. We work real close with those guys and gals and they’re really great. But also the other city services. Water and utilities and street and all of that stuff. We all work really good together.”
Captain Campbell will take over as chief on October 1.
