Two arrested in Montgomery drug bust; thousands of dollars worth of drugs, guns seized
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery police have arrested in two people following a Wednesday morning drug bust.
Police chief James Graboys says members of the Special Operations and Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at around 6:00 A.M. on Cherry Street after a drug complaint and ongoing investigation.
At the scene, officers found drugs, guns, money, and paraphernalia totaling tens of thousands of dollars.
“This is one of the things that’s going right with the police department our men and women put themselves on the line every day,” says Captain Christopher Turner with MPD. “Our SWAT team they had to execute the warrant this morning. We had our K-9 units, our gang unit, our narcotics unit, patrol unit helping out. It’s a team effort here at the Montgomery Police Department.”
Jarandum Cargill, 45, and Dominique Bethel, 41, were arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
During the search, agents seized: one pound of methamphetamine, valued at $7,000; five pounds of marijuana, valued at $20,000; six ounces of cocaine, valued at $5,000; along with oxycodone pills, digital scales, drug paraphernalia, and cash from drug transactions.
“Every investigator involved uphill the standards that our community expects and deserves,” says Commander Denise Barnes. “I also want to express our appreciation to our federal partners who support and collaboration were instrumental. Their expertise and resources strengthen this operation and further reinforced our share commitment to public safety.”
Cargill will be booked on trafficking meth, two counts of trafficking cocaine, trafficking marijuana, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and endangering the welfare of a child. He is facing minimum of 30 years to life in federal prison.
Bethel is facing pending charges with a minimum of 10 years in federal prison.
