MPS invites families to free math play date as they launch ‘Math on the Move’
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Math homework can be a challenge for students and families, but Montgomery Public Schools is hoping to make learning math more engaging with a new family-focused event.
MPS is launching “Math on the Move,” its first math play date, on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 5:45 p.m.
The event will be held at True Divine Baptist Church, 4601 Troy Highway in Montgomery.
Dr. Roslyn Daniels, a parenting specialist with Montgomery Public Schools, spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the initiative and how families can use the event as an opportunity to get additional math support while learning together.
The free event will feature learning stations, educational activities and supplies for students and families. A free dinner also will be provided.
MPS says the goal is to create a fun, interactive environment where families can support students’ math learning outside the classroom.
