“Swinging Fore Healthcare” golf tournament raises money for Jackson Hospital
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – More than one hundred golfers hit the course Thursday to help raise money for Jackson Hospital.
The 21st annual “Swinging Fore Healthcare” Golf Tournament teed off for the 21st year at Arrowhead Country Club.
All proceeds raised from the tournament will go towards patient care, technology, and facilities at the hospital, which recently emerged from bankruptcy.
“We’re rebuilding with Jackson Hospital there’s a lot of work and we’ve been very open about that a lot of work that’s got to be done,” says Jackson Hospital CEO John Quinlivan. “Again, city, county and state have contributed to that we’ve had significant private support for that. But the foundation is just vital and continuing the work that we have to do to modernize and refresh and provide state of the art medical equipment as I said the foundation is just a key part of our structure.”
Quinlivan introduced Sarah Savage Jones as the president of the Jackson Hospital Foundation to golf participants just before tee time, with this being her first day on the job.
“I feel a calling to do this job,” says Sarah Savage Jones. “I have family that grew up in Montgomery and ties to it, so I look forward to working together to really help grow the foundation, grow this region and serve our patients. I love the Jackson Hospital spirit and I’m so grateful to be a part of it.”
Hospital staff and employee says it is nice to hear that things are getting back to normal at the hospital.
Quinlivan thanked everyone that has supported them through this process.
