MONGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – The Alabama Department of Corrections says a man has been arrested in Montgomery County in an investigation involving contraband at a state prison.

ADOC says Richard Nixon was arrested on warrants obtained through Montgomery County for possession of marijuana first degree. Additional warrants for promoting prison contraband second degree and promoting prison contraband third degree were obtained through Barbour County.

ADOC says on Friday, September 25, staff at Easterling Correctional Facility in Clio discovered a package containing contraband during the unloading of a supply distributor truck at the facility.
The package contained approximately 516 grams of marijuana, 169 grams of tobacco and two packages of rolling paper.

The ADOC Narcotics Unit agents conducted a follow-up investigation with the supply distributor and determined that Nixon, an employee, placed the contraband package on a pallet destined
for Easterling.

On Monday, September 29, Nixon was arrested in Montgomery County and transported to Montgomery County Jail. On Tuesday, September 30, he was transferred to Barbour County Jail after posting bond on the Montgomery County charge.
