Montgomery County to develop strategic plan
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Montgomery County leaders have announced that they are working on a countywide strategic plan.
The county will be working with the TPMA consulting form on the plan, which will establish a vision, set priorities and set a framework to guide decision-making over the next five years, the county said.
A nine-month planning process will be the first step. TPMA says it will conduct an environmental scan, speak with county leadership and departments, gather input from residents and community
stakeholders and then take those findings into making goals and priorities.
“I am proud to help lead our effort to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for the future of our county. Montgomery County must be prepared—not just for today, but for the next generation. My priority is growth. I want to see Montgomery County flourish, not fall behind.” said Vice Chair, Commissioner Carmen Moore-Zeigler.
“Montgomery County is approaching this work with a strong commitment to both analysis and engagement,” said Brett Wiler, Vice President of Economic Development and Strategic Planning at TPMA. “Our role is to bring those pieces together and help the County develop a strategy that is ambitious, practical, and built for implementation.”
TPMA and Montgomery County will use a combination of stakeholder interviews, virtual focus groups, a countywide survey, leadership and department sessions and a public forum to understand priorities, validate findings and identify opportunities.
As part of the planning process, Montgomery County and TPMA will launch a Countywide Community Survey inviting residents and other community stakeholders to share their perspectives on the County’s strengths, challenges, priorities and future opportunities. Information about the survey, including how to participate, will be announced by Montgomery County as the project progresses.
The strategic plan is scheduled for completion by May 31, 2027.
