AUBURN, Ala. (WAKA) – Two men accused of posing as law enforcement officers to rob an Auburn home have been arrested thousands of miles away.

Auburn police say on September 28, U.S. Marshals arrested 41-year-old Zealand Jamar Adams of Kent, Washington, on charges of four counts of burglary first degree, four counts of robbery first degree, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer.

Later the same day, U.S. Marshals also arrested 39-year-old Ramiro Vasquez of Chico, California, for four counts of burglary first degree, four counts of robbery first degree, two counts of unlawful imprisonment and one count of impersonating a peace officer.

Police say the arrests stem from an incident that happened in the 1300 block of East University Drive. In the early morning hours of September 3, Auburn police were called to a home to investigate a robbery. During the crime, the suspects allegedly entered the victims’ residence posing as law enforcement officers, held them at gunpoint and stole valuables, police say.

After police identified Adams and Vasquez as suspects. they used Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology to identify the suspects’ rental vehicle and confirm their movement out of Alabama. Warrants were obtained, and Adams was taken into custody in Seattle, Washington. Vasquez was located shortly after in Chico, California, and was taken into custody.

Both Adams and Vasquez were booked into local jails. They are currently awaiting extradition to Alabama.
