Montgomery’s Trew the Star releases new song celebrating his Alabama roots
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) — Montgomery native Trevon Williams, known by his stage name Trew the Star, is releasing a new single Friday that pays tribute to the place he calls home.
“My Home in Alabama” comes after Williams’ appearance on Season 24 of “American Idol,” where he shared his story of growing up caring for his siblings and losing his mother, Shantil, in 2022.
Williams moved “American Idol” judges Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood with his story and performance. He sang Sam Cooke’s “Nothing Can Change This Love” for the judges, earning three “yes” votes and a golden ticket to Hollywood.
Now, Williams is turning his experiences and his connection to Alabama into new music.
Williams spoke with Action 8’s Estee Morrison about the meaning behind “My Home in Alabama.”
You can hear Williams perform the song in the video clip above.
