Wilcox Co. Sheriff’s Office investigates deadly shooting

From the West Alabama Newsroom–

A Wilcox County man is behind bars following a fatal shooting early this morning.

A disabled man was killed and a woman was injured during a shooting at a mobile home in the Arlington community.

Sheriff Larry Colston says investigators responded to Pleasant Green Lane after a woman called 911 — and said she’d been shot.

Waka Wcfatalshooting1007 Pkg“She was on the porch she had been shot. We got, the ambulance came here and they tended to her and took her to Pine Hill and they flew her out to a hospital for further treatment,” said Colston.

“But while she was here she told us go next door and check the trailer, that someone else had been shot and they was dead. So, myself and the other deputies went over and checked the trailer and found another person had been shot, was dead inside a mobile home.”

The woman’s boyfriend — 42 year old Gayron Pritchett — was identified as the shooter.

Colston says Pritchett kicked in the door of the mobile home — and opened fire.

He was caught and arrested about 5 hours later.

Pritchett is being held in the Wilcox Co. Jail — without bond — charged with capital murder — and attempted murder.

Colston says the case remains under investigation and more charges are possible.
