President Trump cancels plans to attend Alabama game due to hurricane

President Trump watches Alabama play Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium on September 28, 2024. At the time, Trump was running for a second term.
WASHINGTON, DC (WAKA) – President Trump has canceled plans to attend the Alabama game versus Georgia at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa due to Hurricane Isaias.
Trump had planned to watch No. 6 Alabama host No. 2 Georgia tomorrow night.
Trump has attended several Alabama football games during his presidency. In 2018, Trump was in Atlanta as Alabama played in the National Championship Game, and in in 2019, he was at Bryant-Denny Stadium when Alabama hosted LSU.
As of now, kickoff for tomorrow night’s game is still set for 6:30PM CDT.
CBS Sports reports that according to both coaches, the teams are preparing as normal for the game, since the weather is well outside of their control. Wet-ball drills and mental preparation are all that can be done for now.
“Depends on the level of weather you get, it would affect what happens,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said, according to 247Sports. “It’s just — that’s not my area of expertise. I’m just getting our football team ready. It hasn’t affected us much, other than we’re doing wet ball drills and get wet ball involved in some of our team reps, just like we did last week at times, preparing for the rain a week ago. I’m not really involved in too much.”
