Breakfast Stack Challenge winners receive their awards
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Even though the Heart of Alabama Food Bank’s ‘Breakfast Stack Challenge’ is over, there was still more giving to be done.
Awards were given out to the multiple businesses and organizations that participated in the challenge. The awards were split into various categories for the competitors to win. The Leadership Montgomery Legacy Class XLII won the award for the ‘Most Pounds of Food Collected’ and the ‘Best School’ award was given to the School of Discovery in Selma.
Not only was this a fun challenge to build interesting art out of breakfast food, 1,00 pounds of breakfast food was collected for the Heart of Alabama Food Bank.
“When you’re talking about 1,000 pounds, you’re talking almost over 1,000 meals,” stated HAFB Interim CEO John Lucas. “That in and of itself says a lot to what we can do to help begin to carve a hole in this thing we call food insecurity.”
“It’s just a wonderful mission,” stated DaMond Davis who is part of the Leadership Montgomery Legacy group. “I really appreciate it and we love what the Heart of Alabama Food Bank does and it’s just good to support.
Action 8 News wants to thank everyone that accepted the challenge to help collect breakfast donations for food insecure children in our area.
