Many local elementary, middle schools make list of the state’s best
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WAKA) – Several schools in Montgomery Public Schools as well as others across our area have made a list of being among the state’s best.
U.S. News & World Report ranked schools based on several factors. It says for each state, schools were assessed on their students’ performance on mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments. Half of the formula assessed the scores themselves (the “performance index”) and the other half incorporated the test results in the context of socioeconomic characteristics. In other words, the top-ranked schools are all high-achieving and have succeeded at educating all their students.
In Montgomery Public Schools, here are the top finishers:
ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS
1. Forest Avenue Magnet
10. Bear Exploration Center
12. Macmillan International Academy
90. Carver Elementary
MIDDLE SCHOOLS
26. Baldwin Arts and Academics
42. Floyd Middle
Officials at Montgomery Public Schools are proud to get this recognition that shows the progress the system is making.
“This really showcases what happens when you have hardworking students, you have dedicated educators, and supportive families who are all on the same page reaching for the same goal. We see our hardworking students and our dedicated educators and we are so absolutely proud of the work that they do every single day.
