CAMPAIGN 2026: Republican Tommy Tuberville declares victory in the governor’s race

CAMPAIGN 2026 (WAKA) – Inside a packed venue in Auburn, Republican Tommy Tuberville has declared victory in the Alabama governor’s race, to the cheers of his supporters.

Tuberville is currently a U.S. senator, but gave up that seat in order to run for governor. He faced Democrat Doug Jones, the same person he defeated in the 2020 U.S. Senate race when Jones held the position in Washington.

Tuberville told the crowd that he plans to stick to the playbook he released during the campaign. Among his goals is to make Montgomery safer, even if he has to put the National Guard on every street corner, he said. He also wants to save rural hospitals, widen Interstate 65 from the Tennessee state line to the Gulf coast and make the state better.
