We are learning more about yesterday’s house fire in Pike County.
The home off county road 3331 belonged to Pike County High School standout athlete Stevie Smiley and his mother. Smiley just signed his letter of intent with ASU. Smiley and his mother had just left for school Tuesday morning when a short time later the fire started. Fire crews say it appeared to be an electrical issue.
The house was insured but as for everything else, it’s a complete loss. Smiley’s mother says the outpouring from the community has been tremendous.
Melinda Jones said, “Whether it’s a phone call or card, it’s just anything. Thanks for the love and the prayers, just everything.”
Crowe’s Chicken is accepting donations on Melinda and Stevie’s behalf. Stevie’s sizes: pants 36/34, size 13 shoe, dress shoe- 14, XL shirt. Melinda’s sizes: 7/8 pants, M shirt, 8.5 shoe, 9 dress shoe.
An account has been set up at First National Bank (both locations) for monetary donations.
