Names Released of Family Killed in I-65 Crash

 MONTGOMERY- The Montgomery Police Department’s investigation into a fatal 

 
crash on Interstate 65 indicates a multi-vehicle chain reaction incident that began after 
 
traffic on the interstate slowed. MPD’s investigation of the 10-vehicle crash that killed 
 
three and injured seven Tuesday morning, March 2, is continuing.
 
 
Killed in the crash were Christine Edwards, 49; her husband, Dedrick Edwards, 50; their 
 
son, Dedrick Edwards Jr., 10, all of Swansboro, NC. Mrs. Edwards was the driver of a 
 
2012 Chevrolet Tahoe that was involved in the crash. Two additional passengers of the 
 
Tahoe were transported with non-life-threatening injuries.
 
 
Other vehicles involved in the crash were a 1998 Kenworth tractor-trailer, 1992 Mazda 
 
pickup truck, 2002 Honda Civic, 2003 Nissan Altima, 2006 Toyota Camry, 2010 Fiat, 
 
2010 Toyota Corolla, 2007 Volvo tractor-trailer, and 2002 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
 
Five occupants of these vehicles were transported for treatment. None is considered life-
threatening.
 
 
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.
