Changes are coming to the Alabama National Fair this year.
Usually, the fair is in the first few weeks of October, but that will be changing.
The dates are set for Oct. 30th through November 8th.
This way it won’t be competing with other fairs going on either in Mississippi and Georgia or local ones, and there are also some other factors.
This will be the 62nd Alabama National Fair.
And organizers say it just keeps getting bigger and better every year.
The fair has given back 7 million dollars to non-profit organizations and another 3 million to awards and prize programs through livestock shows and creative living centers.
Last year alone about 450 thousand went back into the community.
And they hope by changing the date, it will mean even better things.
“By changing those dates we can bring a huge big carnival the midway will be greatly expanded. Some great new rides, bigger than ever. And even more important, we can expand out livestock shows and our shows for our youth that we support. That’s the main reason for the fair, for the support of our youth,” said Russ Dunman, PR Committee for the AL National Fair
The Alabama National Fair is put on by the Kiwanis Club and all proceeds from the event go to local charities in Central Alabama.
