58th Annual SLE Rodeo Kicks Off
It’s time to get groomed up for the big show as the SLE Rodeo is about to begin.
This year’s event promises to be a great one.
“We’ve got a very exciting rodeo this year. We’ve got the top bucking stock and a stock contractor coming back with Frontier Rodeo Company. This is the professional rodeo of the South. It’s the best rodeo you can see this side of the Mississippi,” said Erin Beasley with the SLE Rodeo.
Part of the rodeo wagon train arrived in the Capital City on Wednesday.
Traveling from Atmore, Alabama in the sun and rain. It took them 13 days to travel over 200 miles.
“At least 50 percent dirt road from Atmore up here,” said wagon master Donnie Wall.
Other wagon trains are expected to come in Thursday as the rodeo kicks off that night.
Top cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country will be competing in 7 different events from barrel racing to bullriding and everything in between.
And this year has some new entertainment.
“Tim Wild Thang Lepard, if you haven’t seen that before, he’s got the border collies with monkeys riding on top of them. People probably have seen that before maybe on Youtube. But definitely exciting, wild and wonderful, and something everybody in the family will enjoy,” said Beasley.
