Governor Bentley Signs Alcohol Sales Bill

Montgomery, AL — After years of debate, Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has signed the Sunday alcohol sales Bills (HB81 and HB82). The bill is similar to Sunday alcohol sales in Prattville passed in 2013. Wetumpka and Millbrook will be allowed to sale and distribute draft beer by retail licensees of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board within the city. However, keg beer may not be sold for off-premises consumption. Local bill HB81 states may authorize the sale of alcoholic beverages for on-premises consumption by restaurants, hotels and nightclubs which hold retail licensees of the ABC Board; on on Sunday’s between 12 p.m. noon and 9:30 p.m. only. The bills will now have to be approved by the council with a resolution or ordinance.
