Wheeler To Spend Life In Prison For Shipman Murder
It’s been nearly three years since a Troy woman was shot and killed in her apartment and today the suspect is sentenced to life behind bars.Â

29-year-old Melissa Shipman was found dead in her apartment in October 2012.

Suroy Wheeler alleged shot and killed Shipman in her Troy Villa apartment, and then fled to California.Â

Today, right before the trial was set to start, Wheeler agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter and serve a life sentence.Â

Assistant District Attorney Jon Folmar says Shipman’s family’s satisfied and are glad for a conclusion.Â
