An update on the case of six dogs stolen from of the Bullock County Humane Society’s animal shelter.
Two of the dogs were found in Opelika. As the search continues for the rest, people across the country are raising money to help upgrade the shelter’s security system.
So far close to $1,800 has been raised. And security companies have already expressed interest in helping. The humane society says it hopes to have new security measures in place in the next week or two.
Jennifer Gallagher, Bullock Co. Humane Society Animal Shelter Manager said, “Please try to see this as a bigger issue than just this event. Yes this event is tragic and disgusting. But there is a bigger problem out there, we have a systemic dog thieving problem in this whole region and it’s going to take every body’s vigilance to fix that.”

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of whoever stole the dogs.
