People all over the country are gathering to pray for the world and its leaders for the National Day of Prayer.
People gathered at the Alabama Captiol for the state ceremony. Governor Robert Bentley issued a proclamation, declaring the Alabama Day of Prayer.
Bentley also took to the podium, praying for his fellow elected leaders.
“When we leave these time of office, let us look back and say we did what was right in the eyes of the lord,” Bentley said.
About a dozen different speakers took the podium from different churches across Montgomery, each praying for a different segment of society, from education to government.
The national day of prayer is held every first Thursday of May.
