Selma Police Try to Catch a Jewel Thief

From the West Alabama Newsroom–Â Selma Police are trying to catch a jewel thief — after a smash and grab break-in at a downtown jewelry store.
Lt. Curtis Muhannad says a thief broke one of the glass doors to get inside of Butler-Truax Jewelers.
Dolly Butler is one of the store owners.
“Why would you feel that you can come into a store and take things that are not yours? I don’t understand that concept,” said Butler.
Muhannad says once inside — the suspect broke one of the glass cases– and stole an unknown amount of assorted jewelry. He says it happened at around one o’clock Wednesday morning — and the whole thing was caught on tape.
“We do have surveillance footage of a black male entering the business using a brick, wearing a black skully, grey fleece-type shirt and white sneakers,” said Muhannad.
