A new string of events is set to kick off this weekend in Downtown Troy.
The first Fifth Saturday festival will be held around the square. Restaurants will be out offering a few of the items on their menus and there will be an open mic night in the gazebo.
The city and downtown chamber committee came up with the idea to help support businesses at a time when thousands of university students have gone home for the summer.
Leigh Anne Windham, City of Troy said, “We think that this is going to be an event that will appeal to all members of the community, students, families, kids are more than welcome. It should just be a lot of fun.”
Event will run from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be a central tent to purchase tickets for the food items.
The next fifth Saturday is in August.
