Alabama Joins Other Southern States for 2016 Presidential Primary

Alabama will join other southern states to hold 2016 presidential primaries on the same date.
Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill has announced that Alabama will join Arkansas, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia in hosting what’s being called “The SEC presidential primary” on March 1, 2016.
Gov. Robert Bentley is scheduled to sign the bill on Wednesday.
“I’m excited that the citizens of Alabama will have an opportunity to make a significant impact on who will be the next President of the United States. We have already heard from most of the announced candidates or their campaign teams and they are looking forward to visiting Alabama and meeting our people,” Merrill said in a statement.
