A Troy Police Captain will soon take on a new role.
Troy City Council appointed Troy Police Captain Randall Barr as the next in line as the Chief of Police.
Chief Jimmy Ennis is set to retire.
Captain Barr’s been with the department for 24 years, one of his proudest accomplishments– helping to develop the department’s field training program. It gives one-on-one mentoring for new officers. That’s something he plans to continue, as well as working to bridge the gap between police and residents.
Capt. Barr said, “We need to work to keep our relationships in the community’s strong and I look forward to working with members of the community and with our officers and to make sure that we keep that trust.”
The new chief will take over after Chief Ennis retires October 1st.
Four on the council voted for Barr, Councilwoman Dejerilyn King Henderson did not vote.
