Dead Body Found on Selma City Street

From the West Alabama Newsroom– Selma Police are investigating the city’s 6th murder of the year.
Lt. Curtis Muhannad says the body of a 51 year old Selma man was found near an alley on Mechanic Street early Thursday morning. He says the body has been sent to forensics to determine the cause of death.
“It appeared that he had been shot in his upper left torso near his heart area,” said Muhannad.
“That may have been the cause of death. At this point we’re not sure that that was the cause of death but we do believe that wound is a gunshot wound.”
The Selma Police Department does not release the name of crime victims.
