Pedestrian Crossing Dangers on Boulevard

It’s becoming all too common… The second pedestrian in four days – hit by a vehicle on the Boulevard in Montgomery.

The first pedestrian was crossing West South Boulevard near I-65 and Sassafras Circle around 3 Sunday morning. He was hit and killed. Wednesday, another pedestrian was crossing East South Boulevard when he was hit. He suffered only minor injuries.

Just in the time our camera was there on the South Boulevard, we saw 5 pedestrians try to cross 6 lanes of traffic.
Drivers we talked to say something needs to be done to stop pedestrians from crossing.

“The traffic is so heavy out here and a lot of people are just walking and not paying attention to what’s going on. A lot of drivers are not paying attention, so we definitely need something here to help the pedestrians try to cross the street,” said Sallie Davis.

The road is actually controlled by the State Department of Transportation.
It would be up to the legislators to pass a law to lower the speed or change it in any way.
