From the West Alabama Newsroom–  Watch out Chips Ahoy and move over Famous Amos. A Selma businessman is on a mission to make a difference in the cookie business.

G Momma’s cookie company started six years ago in a small kitchen in Selma — now the cookies are being sold in stores nationwide.

Company founder and Selma native Robert Armstrong says the cookies are made with recipes handed down from his grandmother.

“We called her Gommy momma, and she would bake these chocolate chip cookies when I was a kid that our family would just go crazy over,” said Armstrong. “I told her when I was like in junior high school, I said, Gommy, I’m going to make a million dollars off these cookies one day.”

Armstrong says the company is building a new bakery in Selma that will produce about 350 cases of cookies a day and employ about eight people.
