It is definitely summertime in Alabama. If you’re outdoors, it doesn’t take you long to feel the heat. There are some activities, though, that will keep you indoors and cool in the Capital City.

The Alabama Shakespeare Festival hosts summer acting workshops and camps for aspiring actors. While many of these take place over the summer, there are some in the fall, too.

“It’s been really educational, getting to work with actual ASF actors, so it’s nice to see their process and how they work through different scenes,” said Meredith Revel, who is taking the summer courses.

If you want to have an out-of-this-world experience, you can swing by the Montgomery Planetarium. It’s part of a partnership between the city and Troy University. The planetarium draws children’s groups during the school year and summer alike, including groups looking for educational experiences for kids.

“The planetarium is absolutely the coolest place in town, and not just temperature. with our state of the art technology we have 360 degree imagery of shows. We can simulate the nigh sky as you’d see it any place on earth, past present, or future,” said Director Rick Evans.
