Once again a jury has found former physician David Nash guilty in the death of a local well-known animal trapper Ralph McNeill. McNeill was well known around the River Region as ‘Skip the Critterman.’

It was a very emotional day for McNeill’s family and friends who say it’s been a long 4 year wait for justice in this case. David Nash’s 2013 conviction was overturned because of jury misconduct.

This time around, instead of the murder for hire charge, Nash was convicted on the lesser charge of felony murder.

Prosecutors say Nash orchestrated the murder in 2011, by hiring two cousins to kill McNeill. They say it was the result of a child custody dispute between McNeill’s ex-girlfriend Serena English.

English was Nash’s fiance at the time of the murder. McNeill’s sister teared up while discussing what the verdict in this case means for her family.

“This day is for Skip the Critterman. He was such a good, wonderful, caring man and today justice has prevailed,” said Joyce McNeill Combs.

Nash’s attorneys say they plan to appeal the verdict in this case. He is scheduled to be sentenced Friday, August the 28th.
