Greenville police say they’re working to make sure that moviegoers stay safe in the wake of recent movie theatre shooings in Louisiana and in Tennessee.

Greenville Police Captain of Investigations Justin Lovvorn wants to keep the Greenville movie theater, The Edge, safe.

“We often have unmarked officers that are in the theater itself, here, on a regular basis and keeping check, as well as uniformed officers that will be visible and be seen,” Lovvorn told Alabama News Network.

The operations manager of the theatre, Michael Nimmer, says he feels lucky to have a police department that cares so much and is always quick to check on the theatre.

“Oh, they were in touch with us within an hour after the recent shooting in Tennessee, just to check in with us and talk to us about what we do and what they were going to do to help us out, too,” Nimmer said.
