Former Troy Basketball Star Involved in Fatal Pike County Crash
Three people are dead and four others are injured after two multi-vehicle accidents Monday night in Pike County.
Troopers say that crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on Pike County Road 2276 West of Henderson. They say one car hit the cabin of a logging truck that was entering the road, killing the 17-year-old driver, and a passenger, 18-year-old Denny Strickland of Luverne.
Two other passengers in that car were hospitalized.
Moments after the initial crash, the driver of the log truck, West Wheeler, 70, of Troy exited his vehicle and was struck by a 2007 Mercedes C230 driven by, Wesley Lavon Person Jr., 23, of Goshen. Wheeler died at the scene.
Person, along with his passenger and a passenger in the Freightliner were transported to local hospitals for treatment.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency continues to investigate this crash.
