Governor Working To Fill Vacant Montgomery County Commission Seat

The Montgomery county Commission is made up of five members. With Dimitri Polizos leaving, that creates a vacancy that commissioner Reed Ingram wants to see filled quickly.
Â
“It’s going to be very problematic. We need that fifth person on there. Dimitri was a strong conservative and we’re going to need somebody to replace him that’s going to be a strong conservative,” said Ingram.
Â
The governor’s office is currently taking self nominations as well as recommendations from political groups, and anyone is encouraged to apply. It’s interesting to note that there has never been a woman on the Montgomery county commission.Â
Â
Some have nominated Polizo’s former house seat opponent Charlotte Meadows for the job. While she’d like to see more women involved, she says the job isn’t for her.Â
Â
“You know, that’s a crying shame! I think we should get a woman on the county commission but I also think it needs to be someone who wants to do the job, who’s qualified, who’d be doing it for the right reason,” said Meadows.
Â
Ingram definitely isn’t opposed to a woman joining the team. He just wants to make sure whoever takes over the spot is good with numbers and money.Â
Â
“I think that a woman would do a good job. I really do. I don’t think that it would be a negative at all. There are actually one or two who are in line for that. Wouldn’t be a problem working with a  woman at all,” said Ingram.Â
