Rainy Saturday For Crunch Time Holiday Shopping

In the last few days of Christmas shopping, the weather threatened to put a damper on holiday sales.Â
Â
Shopper Trak, a provider of shopper analytics, said this past Saturday was anticipated to be the fifth largest day for holiday sales. Many shoppers at East Chase said they expected it to be a slow day because of the weather, but instead there was a steady stream of cars. Other retailers saw a drop in customers.Â
Â
But since there was one less weekend for holiday shopping this year in between Thanksgiving and Christmas, some retailers saw the slower shopping day as a way to get caught up with online orders.Â
Â
Katie Lewis, a worker At Embellish said, “We went from Black Friday to wham you have just got to be ready to just get that stuff out there, and I know inventory you are just putting that stuff out as quickly as you’re getting it in.”Â
Â
Shopper Trak also reported that holiday sales for the first week in December were down about 3 percent compared to the same time last year.Â
