ALDOT Urging Drivers to be Safe near Road Work Zones

Highway work zone workers are most vulnerable during roadway construction. With an average of just 4 feet between them and active traffic.

The Alabama Department of Transportation is encouraging drivers to slow down, drive safely and give work zone workers respect on the roadways by moving over whenever road construction is underway.

ALDOT is encouraging drivers to be mindful of those who work to ensure our roads are safe for travel by respecting the laws that govern construction zones.

In 2022 there were nearly 2,000 work zone crashes resulting in 18 fatalities and more than 500 injuries caused by people driving recklessly in work zones.
