UPDATE: Alabama Power says service has been restored to more customers
Alabama Power says as of 9PM Thursday, 3,800 customers are without service in central Alabama as a result of severe weather.
In the past 24 hours, electricity has been restored to more than 34,000 customers.
Several waves of severe weather throughout the day also resulted in new outages. More than 900 personnel are working in hardest hit areas to restore service as safely and quickly as possible.
At this time, outages are concentrated in the following areas:
Lowndes County – 1,180 customers
Dallas County – 700 customers
Wilcox County – 700 customers
Butler County – 650 customers
Montgomery County – 450 customers
Fewer outages also exist in Perry County.
