UPDATE: Attempted traffic stop ends with crash, arrest in Elmore County
UPDATE: ALEA says the search for a driver who eluded state troopers in Elmore County has ended with his arrest.
Around 7:15 this morning, state troopers say they tried to pull over the driver of an SUV for a traffic violation on Interstate 65 near Exit 186 in Elmore County.
The driver, identified as 24-year-old Lashaun Washington of Clanton, drove off but crashed near the intersection of Alabama 143 and Alabama 14.
Wetumpka police arrested him.
He’s charged with attempting to elude and reckless endangerment and also had several outstanding warrants. He is being held without bond.
