Mayor Steven Reed Announces Curfew for Montgomery
At a news conference that Alabama News Network aired live on Friday afternoon, Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed announced a curfew for the city of Montgomery.
The curfew will be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. seven nights a week. The curfew will be effective immediately.
This announcement came due to Reed saying people haven’t been following social distancing guidelines.
He says violators will be charged with a misdemeanor if they don’t abide by this curfew, and could face up to 180 days in jail or fines.
Reed acknowledged that travelers could be driving through Montgomery during curfew hours. Gas stations would be allowed to be open.
